Apple iphone has Flash support

That new iPhone commercial brags about it having a great browser. Mactards have even speculating that the iPhone has Flash support, because the NY Times website’s video player appears to load up fine. But the commercial also skips over the agonizing four-minute load time it would take to cache all those ads, images, flash movies, and did they not notice there is weird baby music playing while some disembodied voice narrates? Dropping in a fake placeholder for the video just isn’t out of the question. It doesn’t matter, though.

IPhone

What I really want is Flash support plus 3G, so I can watch YouTube on a phone. Any phone will do. Whoever does that first will win some sort of Gizmodo gold star.

Yeah, a site like gizmodo should maybe think twice before using a term like “Mactard”

    It’s just not necessary.

As for Flash on the iPhone if you do a google search for “apple iphone flash player” you find my post here: http://www.jolyonruss.co.uk/2007/01/30/apple-iphone-and-the-flash-player/

Until this thing actually drops no-one’s going to know. People will either be surprised or disapointed.

Why a four-minute load time? Couldn’t you be connected via wifi and thus have a very fast – limited only by the wifi’s connection speed – connection?

I know when I get my iPhone that I will probably do the vast majority of my web surfing on it via wifi, only switching the edge network when I’m out of range of a wifi hotspot (which in San Francisco and other major cities is increasingly rare)
